New Energy Connections
& Siteworks
Bringing in a new electricity or gas supply doesn’t have to be an overwhelming project. We manage it from first enquiry to energisation.
WHY CHOOSE INENERGY
Four Siteworks Service Areas
New energy infrastructure projects involve multiple agencies, complex timelines, and significant upfront costs. We coordinate every element so you don’t have to.
New Electricity & Gas Connections
We manage the full application and delivery process for new electricity and gas supplies from initial capacity assessment through to energisation. This includes all coordination with DNOs (Distribution Network Operators), IDNOs (Independent DNOs), ICPs (Independent Connection Providers), and gas transporters.
Meter Installations & Upgrades
We manage the procurement and installation of new meters, upgrades to existing meters, and the transition to half-hourly settlement meters required for MHHS compliance. We work with meter operators and suppliers to ensure the right meter is specified, correctly installed, and transmitting reliably from day one.
Multi-Agency Project Coordination
New connection projects typically involve five or more separate organisations DNO, ICP, meter operator, supplier, and often a local authority or planning body. We act as single point of contact across all of them, aligning timelines, chasing progress, and resolving conflicts before they become delays.
Cost Containment
Connection quotes from DNOs are frequently over-specified. The first quote is rarely the best one. We challenge overspecified capacity assessments, identify alternative routes, and run competitive tendering through ICPs to ensure you are not overpaying for infrastructure your project doesn’t need.
Who We Work With
Built for the Entire Project Team
New connection projects span multiple stakeholders. We serve each of them.
Your Role | What Matters Most to You | How Inenergy Helps |
|---|---|---|
Architect / Designer | Energy infrastructure aligns with design intent and building performance targets | We advise on capacity, metering, and connection routes at design stage — before decisions are locked in. |
Main Contractor | Utility works integrate with the construction programme and don’t delay handover | We coordinate all energy agencies against your programme and escalate delays before they become programme risks. |
Project Manager | One less critical path risk; clear progress visibility | We are your single point of accountability for the energy workstream — with regular progress updates and early warning on any issues. |
Developer | No unexpected connection costs; infrastructure specified correctly from the start | We challenge overspecified DNO quotes, run competitive ICP tenders, and flag cost containment opportunities before commitment. |
Business Owner | Premises energised on day one; no last-minute surprises | We manage the entire process so your opening date is not held hostage by a delayed DNO application. |
Who We Work With
“New connections are prohibitively expensive.”
This is the most common reason businesses delay or abandon new connection projects and it is frequently based on a first quote from a DNO that has not been challenged, alternative routes that have not been explored, or a specification that exceeds what the site actually needs.
Alternative Routes Exist
DNO quotes assume a specific connection route. That route is not always the most cost-effective one. We assess alternatives including IDNO routes where available that can reduce connection costs significantly.
Correct Capacity Specification
Overspecifying capacity is common, especially on development projects where planners default to maximum possible demand. We review specifications against actual likely consumption to ensure the connection is sized correctly not excessively.
Competitive Tendering via ICPs
Independent Connection Providers can often deliver the same connection as a DNO at lower cost and faster. We run competitive tenders across both routes so you have a genuine choice not just the default option.
Timing Applications Correctly
Late applications attract premium charges and longer lead times. Applying at the right stage of a project — before costs are locked in and contractors are waiting — can save both time and money.

“I was given absolutely great help from Ian to scan the market and he came up with the best solution. Price was not necessarily the winner of the contract. It was the advice given that won the deal. Inenergy’s availability on the phone was vital for getting the work done.”
